Version 1 used BBB brushed motors for drive and featured a belt-driven axe using an Owobotics 1806 brushless motor/gearbox. This version had issues with self-righting, as the belt would frequently slip under high torque loads.

== Version 2 ==
Version 2 was built in November 2023, and was a complete redesign. The drive motors were replaced with GEPRC SpeedX2 1804 2450kv motors coupled with Rotalink 19:1 gearboxes, modded with all-steel planetary gears. The weapon motor was upgraded to an Overlander 2836 1120kv motor coupled with a 16:1 28mm gearbox. The robot also became significantly smaller.

Despite the upgraded weapon motor, this version still struggled to self-right. In December 2024, the belt-driven system was replaced with MOD2 8mm HDPE gears, on a 14:10 reduction, which finally allowed the robot to self-right. This was further increased to MOD3 12mm HDPE gears in January 2024 to further increase the power output.

== Version 2.1 ==
In late March and April 2024, the robot underwent some upgrades to prepare it for competition in the US, where the beetleweight class is 3lb instead of 1.5kg in the UK. The weapon motor was replaced with an Overlander 2830 1300kv motor coupled with a 14:1 28mm gearbox, which saved some weight and increased the speed of the axe. Armour configurations were adjusted to further cut weight and bring it under 3lb. In addition, the weapon ESC was replaced with an AM32 ESC, to further assist with self-righting.

Version 1

Version 1 used BBB brushed motors for drive and featured a belt-driven axe using an Owobotics 1806 brushless motor/gearbox. This version had issues with self-righting, as the belt would frequently slip under high torque loads.

Version 2

Version 2.1

In late March and April 2024, the robot underwent some upgrades to prepare it for competition in the US, where the beetleweight class is 3lb instead of 1.5kg in the UK. The weapon motor was replaced with an Overlander 2830 1300kv motor coupled with a 14:1 28mm gearbox, which saved some weight and increased the speed of the axe. Armour configurations were adjusted to further cut weight and bring it under 3lb. In addition, the weapon ESC was replaced with an AM32 ESC, to further assist with self-righting.
